Dear Families,
We are so excited to share with you our plans for Confirmation preparation this year! In place of the traditional three-day weekend retreat at Damascus, we will be hosting two powerful retreats right here in our parish community.
The first retreat will be in October and will focus on helping our young people grow in their relationship with Christ and encounter the Kerygma—the heart of the Gospel message. The second retreat later in the year will build on that foundation and turn outward, focusing on how we are sent forth to live as Christ intends us through the grace of Confirmation.
We are filled with joy and anticipation for all that God will do through these retreats. They are designed to be engaging, meaningful, and Spirit-filled experiences that will truly prepare our young people for the sacrament.
Because the retreats are such an important part of Confirmation preparation, attendance at both retreats is mandatory. We ask you to mark your calendars now and to support your child in being fully present for these special moments of encounter and growth.
Thank you for allowing us to partner with you in your child’s faith journey. Let’s look forward together with joy and hope at what God has in store!
In Christ,
Jen Sanders
Held at St. Paul Parish - 10:30am - 4:30pm - We will end with the celebration of Holy Mass and encourage families to join us!
More details to come!
Yes! Both retreats (October and February) are required. They’re not just “extra events”—they’re an essential part of preparing your heart for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Think of it as two special days set aside to grow closer to Jesus.
If your parents would like to chaperone, that’s great! But they need to be certified through the Diocese first. (This keeps everyone safe and happy.) Parents, contact Jen if you’re interested in jumping in.
We’ll provide awesome retreat T-shirts at both retreats! Pair your shirt with appropriate bottoms—no short shorts, please. Also, wear shoes you can actually move in—there may be walking, standing, sitting on the floor, or other activities where flip-flops just won’t cut it.
Yes! Lunch is provided at both retreats. If you have a favorite sandwich or a special snack you’d prefer, you’re welcome to bring your own lunch.
Sorry, phones won’t be part of the retreat experience. They’ll be collected and stored safely in a locked box for the day. You’ll get them back after.
If you need your phone for medical reasons, please talk with Jen beforehand. Parents will have an emergency contact number and will also receive updates through the app—so no one will be left wondering what’s happening.
Bring yourself, an open mind, and an open heart. This time is all about meeting the Lord in a new way—no heavy packing list required.
That’s exactly why we go! You don’t need to come perfect or prepared with all the answers. Just come as you are and be willing to let God do the rest.
