Bereavement Ministries
St. Anthony Parish This ministry team helps the family plan the funeral liturgy, create a funeral Mass worship aid, visit the funeral home in the name of the parish community, and greet people coming to the funeral Mass. Ministry members provide lectors, readers, Eucharistic Ministers and servers if needed by the family. They also celebrate a special liturgy at the beginning of November, honoring the deceased of the parish from the past year. This ministry is dedicated to providing for the family and the Mass planning in a thoughtful, caring manner.

Those who participate in this ministry provide a pastoral presence to family members who have lost a loved one, assist the family in planning the funeral liturgy, and greet people coming to the funeral Mass. This group also follows up with cards to the family throughout the year and helps plan and celebrate a Mass of Remembrance, a special memorial liturgy held each year in the beginning of November.

Bereavement Support Groupst. anthony parishThis monthly support group is open to all members of the Norwalk/Milan community, Catholic and non-Catholic, who have lost a loved one and are experiencing the grief, pain, and loneliness that is a part of it. We are a friendly, relaxed, caring, small group of people who are journeying through the same experiences. Whether you have lost a spouse, parent, child, or dear friend, you are invited to join. We meet once at month at noon to share lunch and discuss ways in which we can help each other. Our focus is bereavement. However, we have discovered there are many other areas where support is needed, and our discussions touch on all areas of need. You can come as often or as little as you feel necessary. Join us for lunch at noon and a conversation.

Care CallsSt. Paul parish“Care Calls” is an ongoing phone call ministry to St. Paul parishioners to see how they are doing. Volunteers might ask how St. Paul’s can best support them, if there is anything they need. They also may answer their questions and inform them of our services in the parish. Our experience is that people really appreciate these calls!
Volunteer callers may make as few or many calls as they like. To expand our ministry, we always need more volunteers!

Daily BreadSt. paul parishWhether someone is recovering from surgery, an illness, or childbirth, our Daily Bread ministry volunteers will deliver lovingly prepared meals to individuals and families in need. To request a meal or to volunteer to prepare meals, please contact the parish office.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion to the SickThis ministry maintains a vital connection between the gathered community and those who are unable to attend Mass in person. Eucharistic Ministers distribute the Eucharist to those in the hospital, Gaymont Nursing Home, the Carriage House, and to those at home who are unable to come to Mass, even on a temporary basis.

Funeral Luncheon Volunteers
Members of our Funeral Luncheon ministries support bereaved families with a luncheon for their families and friends after a funeral Mass or burial. Volunteers are called upon to prepare a side dish, bake a dessert, or to help with the preparation and serving of the luncheon for the family.

This Health Ministry team is made up of parishioners working in health care professions and parishioners who are willing to assist to provide information on wellness topics, health screenings, and minister to the physical, spiritual and emotional well being of fellow parishioners. Monthly B/P checks are offered after the Sunday morning mass on the first Sunday of the month.

Prayer ChainThe Prayer Chain ministry is a group of parishioners who serve by praying for people in need of prayer during time of illness, injury or other difficulties in their lives. Prayer requests are put on our calling chain. Prayer requests are shared confidentially among the volunteers by phone, email, or text.
Prayer requests may be specific or general in nature. For example, we will be glad to pray for "Jean" [first name only], for "a mother" or for "a special intention," if you want to keep all or some of the details of your prayer need private. It is during this time we can show them God’s love and that He can have a direct impact on their lives.
